Sacred Ceremony with Hikuri (Peyote Cactus)

The Marakame Jose Isabel Gonzalez will be joining us in Troncones and bringing the sacramental medicine of his people, the Wixarika or Huichol indigenous group of Mexico. Hikuri, or peyote, is a psychedelic plant medicine that has been used to heal the body, mind and spirit for thousands of years by native people in the USA and Mexico. These benefits are well known amongst traditional users, but there is increasing scientific evidence that peyote has beneficial therapeutic uses in the treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism, depression and anxiety. The peyote cactus comes from Wirikuta, the sacred desert in the highlands of the state of San Luis Potosi, and is a visionary plant, sometimes providing visions and new perspectives on life events that may be deeply healing and transformative. Peyote is a relatively gentle plant medicine, sometimes eaten raw, made into a tea, eaten raw or dried, or in a powder form.

The Ceremony

This will be a sacred ceremonial setting, with the Elder Jose Isabel Gonzalez guiding us through the journey. Don Jose is a man of deep wisdom and integrity, and I am honored to welcome him to our corner of the universe. Don Jose guides the ceremony with traditional songs, and shares wisdom from his long life as a medicine carrier throughout the night. The ceremony will be held in Spanish with English interpretation. The ceremony will be held at Radian Heart Yoga, in Manzanillo Bay, in the town of Troncones, and the state of Guerrero, Mexico. We will be on the beach, circled around a sacred fire. There is access to a bathroom. Plan to bring cushions or blankets to make a comfortable place on the ground to sit. Arrival time is 8 pm. Ceremony ends approximately 5-6 am. In the event of rain, we will move onto the covered yoga platform, where we can access mats and blankets.

Ceremony Rules & Suggestions

Arrive at 8 pm. Be prepared with water and any snacks for the morning.

Wear comfortable clothes.

Women must wear a long skirt.

No alcohol or drugs for 2 days before the ceremony.

Bring a mat/cushion/blanket to sit on.

Eat lightly after lunch the day of.

Please bring an offering: flowers, fruit, chocolate, bread, copal for the altar and to share in the morning.

Ceremony energy exchange: Sliding scale from $80-$100 usd. We may be able to give a discount, but please only ask if you honestly cannot afford this price. Transportation cost is high and the work itself is hard. Please pay the most you can. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you for understanding and for keeping in integrity. El marakame Jose Isabel Gonzalez nos visita en Playa Manzanillo, Troncones, para una ceremonia profunda de hikuri, o peyote. Mas conocido como don Chavelo, Jose ubica en el estado de Nayarit. El hikuri tiene uso de miles de años para sanar el cuerpo, mente y espíritu. Sus usos son reconocidos entre grupos indigenas de Mexico y EEUU, pero hay un incremento de evidencia científica sobre el uso beneficial terapéutico en el tratamiento de adicción, alcoholismo, depresión, y ansiedad. El peyote es una medicina visionaria, y puede ofrecer nuevos perspectivos, sanación, y transformación.

La Ceremonia

Esta seria una ceremonia sagrada, guiado por el marakame Jose Isabel. Don Chavelo es un hombre sabio y con integridad, y nos guía por la ceremonia, compartiendo su conocimiento, orando por nosotros y por la madre tierra, y cantando sus cantos traditionales. La ceremonia seria en Espanol con interpretacion en Ingles. Ubicación es en Playa Manzanillo, Troncones, Guerrero. Estaremos en circulo alrededor un fuego. Trae tapetes, colchonetas para sentar y acostar. La ceremonia termina aproximadamente a las 5-6 de la mañana.
